Green

Weeks of 11/26/2012 and 12/3/2012: This will be the last blog entry for the green group as they will begin working with their new therapist the week of 12/10/2012. I have really enjoyed my time working with each of your students. During the past two weeks, the category of food was an area of focus while producing target speech sounds, as this was addressed in the student's reading unit. The students worked on categorizing different types of foods (e.g., meats, fruits, vegetables, etc.), completing a food maze, and cutting and gluing foods to practice their speech sounds while spelling.

Weeks of 11/5/2012 and 11/12/2012:The green group has worked on filling in sentences with transportation themed pictures/words with their target sounds. They have also continued to work on discrimination activities in order to independently determine the position of the sound which is addressed in treatment sessions.

Weeks of 10/22/2012 and 10/29/2012: The green group has worked on coloring a picture scene and finding words containing their target sounds. The students have also looked at each of their scenes to find various items used for transportation, as this is a skill in their unit. In addition, the group has worked on identifying where their target sounds were in a variety of Halloween vocabulary words.  Then they worked on placing these words into a series of categories, since this is also a skill in their reading unit.

Weeks of 10/8/2012 and 10/15/2012: Over the past two weeks the green group has continued selecting words that contain their target speech sounds at the beginning, middle, and end and placing them in their speech books. They have also worked on determining if their sound was in the beginning, middle, or end of a word during discrimination coloring activities.

Week of 10/1/2012: This week the green group worked on production of target sounds while continuing to work on their books and completing a coloring activity where they needed to discriminate and determine if their sound was in the beginning, middle, or end of a word.

Week of 9/24/2012: This week the green group worked on production of target sounds while listening to riddles and selecting the appropriate answer. They also began thinking about words containing their target sounds because during the next few weeks the group will be making a book of their speech sounds.

Week of 9/17/2012: This week the green group worked on production of target sounds while playing a matching game in order to practice producing structured sentences. They also practiced sounds while coloring on game paths and producing target sounds in spontaneous sentences.

Week of 9/10/2012: This week the green group worked on production of target sounds and phonological processes during a minimal pairs activity. Each of the students worked on touching the first picture in the row and saying its name, then they touched the second picture and said its name, after that they said the name of each of the pictures together. The green group also worked on production of target sounds while echo reading a story.

Week of 9/3/2012: This week the green group focused on production of consonant clusters, especially those containing s-blends (sk, sm, and sn). The students glued pictures of words containing these sounds on a snake. They practiced producing the sounds using the snake cue to assist with production or the words.

Week of 8/27/2012: This week the green group discussed various tips to assist with the production of /l/ and /l-blends/. They used these tips as they determined the differences between a series of two pictures with several items containing the target sounds. The students produced sentences containing the target /l/ and /l-blends/ when talking about the differences on their worksheets. Each of the worksheets were sent home on 8/29/2012 for additional practice.

Week of 8/20/2012: This week the green group worked on getting to know each other by talking about their summers. Each of the students also identified the sounds they would be working on throughout the school year. The students also played a BINGO game to practice production of their target sounds at the phrase and sentence levels.
